A THREAD on why Dark Blue Kiss is one of the best series that represented LGBTQ+ community and touched upon so many social issues straight on rather than tiptoeing around it.
this is such an important scene for lgbtq+ representation. because what pete says implies that they were born this way and being gay wasn’t something they decided to be or happened when they suddenly liked someone. they just always knew.
how frustrating it is to not being able to declare your relationship and love to the world, stripped away from claiming your lover and how you still have to control yourself and not out someone who isn't ready to come out.
how families are different and just because you hear someone's positive coming out story doesn't mean that everyone has that chance to get a supportive parent. that's why you should never force someone to come out. it's different for everyone depending on their environment.
discussing how gay people had to work harder to prove they are "worthy" and not less than heterosexual people. a very overlooked matter in our community and i'm so glad they voiced it out loud and clear. we have nothing to prove.
how the future of gay relationships are so indefinite since many countries don't even allow it. so at the end of the day, all you have is your partner and the moments you have together. also discussing how one has to change for the better to a certain point for their relationship
this scene not only shows how difficult it is for the children to come out to their parents but also how parents may feel lost and unsure of how to approach their children even when they know about it. so both parties may feel lost and it's hard to talk about it.
one of the BEST representations on how confusing it may be to figure out your sexuality through a past relationship. and kitty was such a well represented woman character who wasn't portrayed as crazy or obsessed but rather understanding even tho she felt sad. and she be gay too
GAY PEOPLE DON'T LIKE ANYONE JUST FOR THE SAKE OF IT. MORK SPEAK IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE AT THE BACK! Also let's talk about how great of a friendship they have because I love it. Just because I'm gay doesn't mean I'll like any random person.
dark blue kiss also gave us how older people see themselves right all the time and expect the younger one to apologise. being older doesn't mean you're always right. nor does it excuse you from apologising. i love how he defended his FRIEND against his BROTHER. hallelujah.
that's all i have for now but if you have more, please let me know and I'll add.
here’s more after people sent me!

being out to one person doesn’t mean they go around telling your business. to whom you choose to share that information with is up to you and doesn’t concern anyone else. not even your best friend.
Gay couple coming into Kitty’s shop to pick up their bouquet and talking about why gay marriage makes a headline when it’s just marriage. Something that should be considered normal and not headlines.
Miss Kitty spilling facts about how to communicate and maintain a healthy relationship
Pete’s dad also teaching how important communication is regardless of who is right and who is wrong when there’s a fight going between a couple.
pete’s dad promoting safe sex
