HOW EVER & WHATEVER I WRITE, I CAN'T DO JUSTICE WITH FEW GOOD LINES FOR ONE OF THE GREATEST HISTORICAL WRITERS KARNATAKA HAS EVER SEEN.
#TaRaSu
Just this name is enough, Lakhs of Kannadigas will feel an emotion which is unparalleled.
There are hardly few literary figures who receives respect out of their talent & TaRaSu is the only ONE to garner this with writing Historical Novels.
TRS (20/04/1920) was born at Chitradurga Dist, Karnataka.
Hailing from a family of famous Kannada Pandits, writing came easy for him.
In Childhood & College days, TaRaSu spent more time in Freedom movement & jail rather than studies.
Eventually he decided not to sit for exams
till Bharat attain independence.
In 1942, TaRaSu joined VishwaKarnataka newspaper. During this period, he married Ambuja. He later worked for the Prajamatha, Vahini and Navodaya newspapers and later with Prajavani, Mysuru, Kaladoota and Vicharavani newspapers
TaRaSu was initially inspired by A N KrishnaRao, a legendary novelist & referred as King of Novelists,
his initial writings belong to the pragatisheela style and contain novels like Purushavatara and Munjavininda Munjavu. These writings mainly deal with the issues faced by the
downtrodden and the lower caste society.

Rural Setup Chandavalliya Tota & Masanada Hoovu, which talks about the plight of prostitutes and Hamsa Geethe, which talks about the life of a musician in the context of barbaric Hyder Ali evolved TaRaSu from Pragatisheel to Practical.
both of these novels have been made into films in Kannada. Hamsageethe was chosen as a text book for graduation classes and a Hindi film, Basant Bahar, was based on it. TaRaSu started writing about history with
Shilpashree which is based on Chavundaraya, the person who
commissioned the statue of Bahubali at Shravanabelagola.
And Nrupatunga which tells the story of Rashtrakuta King Amoghavarsha is a classic.

The novels Kambaniya Kuyilu, Rakta Ratri, Tirugu BaaNa, Hosahagalu, Vijayotsava, Rajyadaaha, Kasturi KankaNa and Durgaastamaana
are part of his historical saga of Chitradurga.
Every book conquers you, make the reader a subject in that environment & for days you will not sleep reading what the Barbarian Tippu Sultan did.
The legend passed away on 10 Apr 1984.
For his #Durgastamana TaRaSu received Kendra Sahitya Academy Award in 1985.
TaRaSu wrote 60 Novels and 11 were made into movies.
Interestingly, Basant Bahar was made in 1956 whereas the Kannada movie Hamsageete came 2 decades later.
