Listening to every Prince album in chronological order (a lockdown thread). Starting with For You, which always feels a bit like the first series of Parks and Rec. All the familiar elements are there, but it& #39;s not quite working. Soft and Wet works as signs of what is to come. 1./
Actually the last two tracks on side 2, & #39;so blue& #39; and & #39;im yours& #39;, are amazing, especially the guitar on the latter that& #39;s missing from the rest of the album. I& #39;m starting to think I have never actually flipped this record before. 2/
Straight into Prince and what might be the greatest side one track one ever (may dispute this myself later) but the baseline that closes out I wanna be your lover is amazing. Lyrically not the best thing to listen to while locked down on your own (may regret this later as well).
Thinking I don& #39;t listen to enough & #39;side 2& #39;s. & #39;I feel for you& #39; is obviously waiting there, but totally forgot about Bambi, which sounds like nothing else on the album and is awesome. 4/
Realise it& #39;s only me listening to this thread but it is keeping me distracted so will keep going with it 5/
Reached the start of the run of nigh perfect albums. Side A here is barely fifteen minutes long and not a second is wasted. It& #39;s somehow punk/sex/funk/disco while sounding nothing like any of those things ever sounded before. 6/
