it’s just… so fucking incredible to me how florence stripped away everything that made her band famous. no choirs, no layers of mythological allusions and allegory.

it’s hard enough to say how you TRULY feel. singing it aloud to a stadium with thousands of people takes stones.

i don’t know any other artist who’d start their single with the line;

“When I was seventeen I started starving myself / I thought that love was a kind of emptiness.”

i don’t know how she can so totally reinvent her music while not changing even a bit. is that kind of vulnerability in her art a good idea? i don’t know! yet, she still tries to connect with us.
