I get a lot of curious people sending questions about my weightloss journey, how I’ve been doing it and how I’m continuing to maintain it over quarantine... so here’s some (non-professional and completely my own opinion based on my experience) answers
Truth be told, quarantine has been rough and I haven’t been putting a lot of effort into it. Trying to put together meals when shops are still out of my favourite things has been rough. It’s okay to sometimes step back for a minute and let the world settle before jumping back in.
I do intermittent fasting. 8:12//12:8 ratio. Eight hour window where I can eat my calories for the day, 12 hours of fasting. It’s worked for me quite well.
What do my meals look like?
-morning coffee (around 9-9.30 most days) coffee is a good way to suppress my appetite when I’m hungry.
- a light meal at 11. 2 boiled eggs or a can of tuna
- a salad at around 1.30.. something light and fresh
- dinner around 6. Chicken & Veg.
Cheat meals? YES! I pick a day (usually Fridays, something to look forward to and get me through the week) it is the only time I will indulge throughout the week.
Water! Most important part of my lifestyle. 2L per day is the goal. I bought a bottle which holds exactly 2L. Keep yourself accountable.
Sugars and carbs? In small amounts and not often. I cut soft drinks for eight weeks... broke it over Easter.. easing myself back into this. Carbs... as little as possible.
Workout schedule? Sometimes I get up at 5am & go to the gym before work (when it was open 🤦🏻‍♀️) more often than not I’m at the gym after dinner at around 8.30pm (when it’s most quiet/most machines are available) I enjoy doing cardio &!weights & pushing myself to try new things.
I just bought a new book and am waiting for it to arrive.. I’m looking forward to implementing some of these techniques into my future journey.
GOALS: I set small goals to achieve over a long period of time. Celebrate small achievements. It’s not about a beginning and an end.. it’s about the little things in between too!
Consult with your doctor! They have a lot of resources and tips. I have a referral to a dietician if I feel I need to use it!
And lastly RESEARCH as well as TRIAL AND ERROR. I did a lot of research am still learning new things everyday. Figure out what works best for you. Everyone is different.. no two journeys are the same. Figure out your routine/what suits your lifestyle.
