Happy to share the news that an extended version of the Build Systems à la Carte paper got published in the Journal on Functional Programming, and it's Open Access:

It's a big milestone for us but not the end of the journey to the world of build systems!
I find it difficult to work on such extended papers because when you need to polish a 55-page draft two years after starting the work, you are tempted to just dump it on your home page, unreviewed, and instead move on to writing about new cool things you're currently working on.
What kept me going were my awesome co-authors who kept generating new insights in every iteration. If you get a chance to write a paper with @ndm_haskell and/or @simonpj0, you should grab it and not let go until you emerge 2-3 years later, now a better writer and implementer.
