New exit strategy polling:

The public has been more pro-lockdown than anyone expected, which means ending it could be more politically difficult for the government than starting it.

People are currently withholding judgement on whether we should do so in three weeks but... 1/n
...they currently have quite strict criteria on when we should start easing restrictions. The median position is "when the number of deaths each day has fallen substantially" - but many are a lot stricter than that 2/n

In terms of how it should be done, the public wants it to be "gradual" (74%) rather than "all at once" (18%).

Most think we should prioritise the economy (78%) over giving people more freedom over their free time (14%) although there is an interesting age divide on this. 3/n
Reopening schools is the public's top priority (although interestingly no massive difference between parent / non-parents). Beyond that, it is what you would expect given the above, economicsy things top, free time things bottom. 4/n

Finally, people are generally fine letting different groups out at different times, unless it is young people in which case it is the wrong thing to do (42% to 36%) and unfair (47% to 31%). 5/5
