One of my fave things when I travel in Japan is to find small roasteries and try out their coffee beans and bring some home w/me. As I assume a lot of these places can't serve customers in-store, this is likely their only source of income. Let's help them survive!

A THREAD 1/
Coffee History of Kobe / 神戸喫茶物語 (HYOGO)
Sources a lot of their beans directly from farms and offers a variety of roasts, including charcoal roast. Free shipping on orders over 5000yen. Monthly specials.

Mikado Coffee (NAGANO)
Carries Rainforest Alliance grown beans. Most of their stock focuses on blends, so check the taste profiles.
Free shipping over 7500yen, 5% cash back for credit card purchases.

Hiro Coffee (OSAKA)
Also carries Rainforest Alliance coffee. Nice selection of both blends and single origin. I really like their Costa Rica Aquiares single origin roast.

Miyajima Itsuki Coffee (HIROSHIMA)
Selection is a bit smaller on their online shop, but don't let it turn you away! I like the Columbia and Rwanda roasts. This roastery is really local to the Seto Inland Sea area and the cafes have such a great vibe.

Kanazawaya Coffee (ISHIKAWA)
I loved this place-- their industrial roaster is in a huge glass room so you can watch them!
They basically just sell blends, not single origin. I liked the "Kanazawa Monogatari" the best.

"Good Coffee" website (Various)
One online shop I have been meaning to try; it connects coffee lovers with a variety of small shops in one website.
