It’s still kind of interests me to see people using Juicero as the archetype of the obviously stupid idea. It was trying to do Nespresso for fresh fruit juice - a machine that makes something you could do yourself but with less mess & hassle. 1/
They made pods with chopped fruit inside that you *could* cut open and squeeze yourself, just as a Nespresso pod has ground coffee inside and you could cut that open and brew it yourself 🤷🏻‍♂️ 2/
Then it went horribly wrong. I wasn’t involved in the deal, but pods for fruit juice use have obvious engineering issues that make them harder than pods for coffee, and the device came in way way over budget (although interestingly still cheaper than a lot of coffee machines) 3/
They probably screwed some things up, but making Nespresso for fruit juice is not a terrible idea - Nespresso is a billion dollar product with great margins and there are millions of happy customers. 4/
It was a company that misjudged things and failed, and that happens a lot, but actually, the thing that deserves to be remembered is a hysterical mob jumping up and down pointing and screaming like kids in a kindergarten playground. Not the finest moment for anyone involved /fin
