Tragic figures. Latest ONS data shows 1,043 deaths in care homes from coronavirus up to April 10, up from total 217 the week before.

Also shows off the scale deaths from all causes for this time of year - 18,516 - biggest total for that week in modern history.
They also show that the total coronavirus death toll is 40% higher for that week than hospital death numbers suggested.

Yesterday's hospital death toll was 16,509, so the ONS data suggests the actual figure is much higher, certainly over 20,000.

A month ago Chief Scientific Adviser Sir Patrick Vallance said keeping the coronavirus death toll to less than 20,000 would be "a good outcome".
