since you alleged that i am "misinterpreting" here, here are 4 pointers for you:

1) faith (iman) is not something that is independent of being. in fact, faith is inclusive of every single aspect of life. https://twitter.com/coffeestains11/status/1252405641462730754
2) it seems like you don't know who munafiqs are. munafiqs are NOT believers. this verse itself should be enough to prove that... "neither to the believers nor to the disbelievers". the verse IS talking about the munafiqeen, the previous verse establishes that.
..."munafiq" literally means "hypocrite". i would like to reiterate, please READ SURAH MUNAFIQUN to know what the quran says about hypocrites.
3) the spineless centrist liberals of today are a very good analogy for the munafiqeen of the time of the prophet (may peace be on him). please read up on islamic history to properly understand this. there is a context to everything. i am not merely speculating here.
4) & i'm NOT here to debate on the quran, esp. such a ludicrous debate on whether a verse that clearly mentions the munafiqeen, is about the munafiqeen or not. your argument is baseless and utterly laughable. you are the one misinterpreting here. read up and understand context.
