I'm a little tired of people fetishizing sweden's way of dealing with covid-19 as something to look up to when the number of deaths per day it's about as bad as the US when you scale by population
since there are *many* replies arguing about this, lemme just clarify

1. first off, don't put a lot of trust in anyone (that includes me) who's not an expert on pandemics to give accurate reporting on how we should think about the responses to any virus outbreak
2. every single graph, omits information that is likely relevant to such a broad statement like "how well is country X dealing with the coronavirus"

what's worse?
• 2 people dying per day in a country of 10 people?
• 5 people dying per day in a country of 100 people?
the answer is that it's an ill-posed question

worse *with regards to what*?

worse in terms of total rate of increase in human suffering? worse in curbing the spread within their respective population? worse in terms of the economy? worse in terms of happiness?

it's complicated
3. back to my original tweet: I'm not saying sweden is overall making bad decisions, I don't know enough about it to say (look at point 1)

but what I have seen is that sweden *looks* real bad to me when compared to the other nordic countries, whether scaled by population or not
4. I kinda wish I didn't send that tweet because honestly I shouldn't be the person to talk about this because, again, point 1

I was just a lil frustrated with all the praise sweden was getting, but now I'm even more frustrated with more non-experts arguing in my mentions 🙄
