Previous research tells us there is a risk that a prolonged period out of school can negatively impact the attainment of the most deprived pupils.

Technology, internet and a space to work are key to accessing online learning, but these are just the basics to accessing content.

What really matters is being facilitated to use that content meaningfully.

We shouldn't focus on 'normality' in the next few weeks. Parents, teachers and pupils are in an impossible situation.

'Normal' wasn't working for swathes of young people. Our focus needs to be on what the new normal looks like.
