There is a critical role Bar Enclave played back in the day - a melting point for people with different political leanings. You would come there, argue, sometimes heatedly and return home.
You necessarily didn’t need to agree with one another, but it was a safe space for discussions you could never have on Twitter.
It provided perspective, empathy and understanding between the most unagreeable characters. More importantly, it was a good training ground for reading the mood in a room and knowing when to retreat.
We have lost that and it is evident in some of the ways people have zero tolerance for dissent online (within a certain group). Last last sha: Ludo et ludem. The game is the game.
