Vacancies data is a bit more timely, with an update for the 3 months to Mar 2020. But that only covers a small part of the period since mid-March when parts of the economy were locked down, and the small reduction is nothing like what other (more timely) data sources are showing.
For example, the DWP’s Find a Jobs website is showing less than half as many vacancies as it was in early March.
There is also an early employment estimate for March in the ONS’s new ‘Real Time Information’ data, based on HMC PAYE records. It’s showing a slight fall, but again it looks like we’ll have to wait until next month to see the full effects in the data.
