I know everything is surreal right now but ... the reality is, sh*t happens.

The past few decades have given us a false sense of security in the Western world. We are used to structure, certainty, so-called normality.
However that’s not actually normal. There’s been an unusual stretch of peace that has bred complacency.

Wars are fought. Pandemics happen. And they happen in the West.

There are no—and there never have been—any guarantees that life will always carry on as “normal”.
We are just tiny specks of living matter on a huge rock revolving around the sun.

In 100 years’ time we’ll all be gone and regular life will be different once again.
Lie down and look at the stars sometime. Look around the room and see if you can find anything that will still be here next century.

Journalists – please stop asking politicians, economists, etc when this will end.

Literally nobody knows. Nobody. Accept it.
The sooner we accept our inherent irrelevancy in the scheme of things, the sooner we can accept colossal uncertainty.

And, at the same time, learn when to tune out and just focus on the moment.

Right now I’m eating cookies.
