A bloke who goes by the name chunderfist69 has a blog where he writes about Tasmanian urban folklore and the occult. Several points are made. Here's a thread of just a few of them:
A long-running Satanic secret society called the Reachers features prominently on chunderfist69’s site. Sue Hickey (the “Orator”) and Ron Christie are supposedly members of the group. The Railway Roundabout in Hobart is said to be a site of spiritual significance for them
A New Norfolk couple are purported to have encountered a malevolent Japanese water spirit - a Kappa - in their backyard the day before the Tasman Bridge collapsed in 1975. “Don’t go on the big bridge tomorrow,” the spirit told the man after he’d placated it
The sinister old Rocherlea Trail is explored in a post from 2015. It’s believed a figure known as the Mowbray Light Man terrorises people who dare to venture down the trail at night
A “macabre secret” is apparently concealed inside the big penguin statue at Penguin: a dead body
The Hobart City Council’s metal Christmas tree sculpture in Salamanca Square is heavily scrutinised by chunderfist69. He believes it couldn’t have cost the council $35k to make and, therefore, that most of the money was secretly funnelled to the Reachers
chunderfist69 relays the story of a man who claims to have stumbled into an inter-dimensional portal in his Ulverstone home in the 1980s
An alleged former employee of Reliquaire, a toy and gift shop at Latrobe that burned down in 2015, tells chunderfist69 that a haunted doll called Robert was to blame for the inferno
