Remember how Trump was going to unilaterally adjourn Congress last week?

Can we at least see the immigration order before you freak the fuck out? The man tweets addled garbage regularly. Let's see the order.

Let's take it back two months. Remember, Trump, by proclamation, blocked travel from China for anyone who isn't a citizen or lawful permanent resident.

And then, in February he issued a new proclamation blocking travel from European Schengen Zone countries.

Those travel bans applied to people who weren't U.S. citizens or LPRs. That's an *entry* ban.

Trump's new tweet is that he's going to ban *immigration.* That's a different animal, and it rests on a totally different statutory basis.

Which is why I say I would like to see the actual text.

Is banning *immigration* something that this White House could be expected to do? Absolutely. Have you been in a coma?

But we're gonna need to see the text.

Just as a matter of how immigration works in practice, it's hard to "temporarily suspend immigration" in a way that functions as an immigration ban, as opposed to an entry ban.

Most people who are approved for immigration don't have a time limit on arrival that would be foreclosed by a temporary suspension, which is what Trump actually tweeted.

I'm just saying, I would keep an eye out for an entry ban as opposed to an immigration ban.

And, y'know, an entry ban is what we already have for China and the European Schengen Zone.
