Among the things that strike me watching Alex Garland's #Devs is the extraordinarily effective use of music cues. The final ep. starts with a track that samples Steve Reich's 'Come Out' over a cgi [?] landscape. It's a perfect example of the show's aural/visual shocks... 1/7
Another is in ep 2 where Low's 'Congregation' scores an otherwise silent montage of Lily's horrific reactions to learning of her boyfriend's fate. Simply superb in context and another inspired choice... 2/7
The link between Garland's work and contemporary art works is another point of fascination. In #ExMachina there's a really interesting nod to a work of art in this scene... 3/7

In Devs the golden columns around the lab building seem like a reference to land art, and de Maria's 'Lightening Field' in particular 6/7
