why The Gifted should be the next on your to-watch list: a thread
The Gifted is a 13-episode Thai series released by GMMTV on 2018. It falls under the genre Science Fiction though don't be fooled because this isn't your cheesy sci-fi series with an awful storyline, a horrible production and a cringey acting.
The story revolves around Ritdha High School, a school that implements a classification system which divides their students to 8 sections, ranking them upon their academic excellence.
+ Aside from the hierarchy made for the students of Ritdha High, a specific "Gifted Program" was created for a handful of exceptional kids who contain special abilities called Potentials.
Yes, it makes use of the superficial stuff such as superpowers and whatnot, but this Thai series proves that a supernatural science fantasy drama can live up to its genre without the disturbing green screen edits that could honestly make any motion picture a whole lot of mess.
With the lack of CGI used, the production team's efficiency was greatly evident as they have maximized the cinematography, lighting, and the right equipment of camera angles.
The actors and actresses' skills are highly applauded as they gave life to each and every character, giving them the chance to unfold their own respective stories.
In terms of the casting for The Gifted, you can't go wrong with this series as it is starred by GMMTV's brighest stars Nanon Korapat, Gun Attaphan, Chimon Wachirawit, Fiat Pattadon — some names that aren't new esp. if you have are an avid watcher of thai series.
The plot of this two year old series is fresh, diverse, intense, and remarkable. With each episode approaching, you will feel that thrill and curiosity building up inside as each character would make you eager to know more about their distinct potentials.
Moreover, the music binds everything complete for it intensifies the mood and atmosphere as you watch along the series.
What's more to commend is that despite the focus on the scientific side of the story, The Gifted didn't fail to tackle relevant issues on friendship, bullying, youth, equality, and education.
It emphasizes how schools today are so competitive that it gets mentally abusive and emotionally manipulative to students for it pushes them to be "puppets" of the unjust system.
Overall, The Gifted is a whole rollercoaster ride of experience and it's also perfect for those who are into suspense and mystery genre. It's definitely a must-watch so if you haven't started yet then the best time is now! Get ready to be hooked and be one with the gifted!
