What do these pairings have in common?

When I came into comics in the late 80s, they were both touted as the guy in question's Greatest Love - and had been for some time. And then someone decided they'd rather the guy move on to another lady, which for some reason had to
involve retroactively reducing their relationships to flings and rewriting the woman's personality so she becomes the stereotypically exoticized "other" who has a grip on the hero's hormones but not his heart. Not coincidentally this came along with sexing up their appearances
and strongly emphasizing their sexual appeal and appetite while the alternative love interest becomes oddly wholesome by comparison (yeah, even Selina - see Selina and Talia in Rules of Engagement... and of course notably in New52 when they were trying to de-emphasize the BatCat
romance proper the first thing done to de-romanticize the pairing was ramp up the sexual aspect.)

The thing is, both Kory and Talia were always beautiful, and I'd say they were always sexy, but they weren't always presented in a sexual way, you know what I mean?
So I guess the pattern I'm seeing is, when DC wants to discredit a (het) romantic relationship, emphasize the sexual chemistry, de-emphasize the emotional connection, sexualize the woman physically (make her more voluptuous, give her bedroom eyes, volumize that hair
, etc etc) while making the chosen partner look more wholesome and like "wife" material (give them wider, open, rounder eyes, a less curvy body, a more modest costume...). And emphasize the unwanted woman's voracious sexual appetite while hardening her personality (see N52 Kory,
Talia since Morrison).

Eh, it's just disheartening and pretty disturbing.
Oh one other thing.

I don't think there's anything wrong with being sexual. But some creators sure seem to think there is because that's the first thing they go to when trying to get rid of an inconvenient long term romance???
