They will literally change the landscape. They will end many nations and cultures, and the ones that survive will be fundamentally changed. Not a single human will be able to ignore them.

For some, intense suffering on the order of the worst tragedies in history. The great plagues and fires, famines and droughts, floods, wars, and the collapse of empires. This is absolutely nothing to look forward to.

If those opposed to allowing some to foolishly and monstrously attempt to profit off of the destruction of millions if not billions of lives and the myriad of ways in which humanity presently conducts its affairs can wrest some of that power from them, so much the better.

But even if they do, it will be a (welcome) mitigation, not an aversion of something approaching societal collapse. There is only one glimmer of hope in this whole story, the story of what will happen to you, and that is that in this collapse, those of us who want...
