Hi, friends. My feeds in all SM include people feeling like they aren’t being productive enough, stressed out about it, not being focused, and just needing to take care of the basics. If it helps at all......
A few years ago I had some intense medical adventures .... which required serious weeks of recovery and downtime. I was like, great! I’m gonna read so much! And catch up with people! And rethink my career!!
I mean .... you know what really happened. The stress, the worry, the recovery .... all of it made me only able to 1) eat when I could, 2) scroll aimlessly through social media, and 3) barely focus on reading or communication.
And I had an amazing support system, & the best healthcare ..in the world?( @nyulangone) I obv had financial stress & being out of the loop business-wise was depressing & frustrating. I would tell my hub “I feel like I am underwater, but look up & see everyone swimming up there.”
I felt like I was missing out. And all I could do is take a nap. And it was .... a personally catastrophic time. That’s just the word. For me, for my family. I kept thinking...“I can’t believe the people in my life. I can’t believe all the help I am asking for.”
But I also learned that the only way through was to be gentle with myself. Be thankful for what I had, ask for what I needed. Set the expectations to like, showering. And walking to the end of the block. And obv we don’t know the end of this. But ... truly ...
We don’t know the ending of anything. For sure. So .... be gentle with yourself. Ask if you need help (here!). We will get through. We have lost, but we have love. When we aren’t underwater anymore, we will all find each other again. Love you.
