Not seeing a lot of reporting on the fact that, amid a financial crisis that the Mayor of LA calls "our worst ever," in his proposed budget that guts services and gives most city employees 10% less pay due to furloughs:

LAPD officers got a huge, huge pay increase. Huge.

Last year's budget for LAPD officer salaries was $1.167 billion. It's now $1.276 billion.

Last year's officer overtime budget was $165 million (a record at the time). It's now $200 million.

They cut $230 million out of services to pay for $145 million in raises for cops.
