Told my boss today that my bike needs about $300 in parts and labour (complete tuneup + new drivetrain). And they were shocked. "How much did your bike cost? How much could you sell it for? Why not get a new one?"

I guess bike economics are different than car economics?
It's been 2 years since my last full tune-up and 2 years of winter riding on them cogs (with admittedly poor cleaning). And it's gonna cost me about the cost of buying and installing 2 tires on my car.
Sure I could replace my bike with a new one @ about $750, and sell this one for like $75 but why?
