Before she ran with Walter Mondale on the Democratic ticket in the 1984 presidential election, Geraldine Ferraro represented a US House district in Queens, NY-09.

This will be a short thread on some recent election results in that district.
Here's Ferraro's US House seat's configuration from 1982-1984 (she served from 1979 through 1984).

It's now split between 4 seats: #NY07, #NY08, #NY12, and #NY14.
Though she won re-election here easily, Ferraro wasn't always representing an easy seat: she won her first House election by beating Republican Alfred DelliBovi by only 10%.

Cuomo won the 2018 gubernatorial election here by a lot more: 58.48%! Here are the margin maps:
It's fairly easy to make out Maspeth and Fresh Pond on that map! To be clear: these maps show the margin % and raw vote margin.

Here's the same #NYGov 2018 general election result broken down by the current congressional lines in Ferraro's district:
Ferraro's district (especially the NY-12 and NY-14 parts) has become a hotbed of leftism in NYC. Here are a few recent primaries that really show it.

First up: the 2018 #NYGov primary. Cynthia Nixon (red) lost the district to Andrew Cuomo by under 9%!
The #NYGov 2018 primary broken down by the current congressional district lines shows that Nixon actually won 2 out of 4 districts here: #NY07 and #NY12.

She won both by under 10%.
The #NYLG 2018 primary result was a bit different: now NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams actually won Ferraro's old seat by almost 11%!

Williams won 3 out of 4 of the current congressional districts within it: #NY07, #NY12, and #NY14, the first two by over 20%!
The #NYAG 2018 primary ended up with @ZephyrTeachout winning Ferraro's old seat by over 5% -- but nobody got a majority of the vote in this 4-way primary.

In fact, Sean Patrick Maloney (who represents #NY18) won over 20%, and even won some precincts (the purple ones) here!
Here's the breakdown of the #NYAG primary by the current congressional lines within the old district. @ZephyrTeachout won 3 out of 4 districts: #NY07, #NY12, and #NY14, all by under 10%!

James won the #NY06 section of the seat, by a little over 5% over Teachout.
It wouldn't be a thread about the growth of the left in Queens if it left out the 2019 #QueensDA primary!

@tiffany_caban absolutely crushed it here, winning Ferraro's old seat with over 62% of the vote in a 7-way primary, & beating Katz by over 40%! Look at that deep red -- wow.
Finally, here's the breakdown of Ferraro's old seat by the current congressional districts within it. @tiffany_caban is the only recent leftist candidate to win *all four* districts!

She won #NY07 by 58%, #NY12 by 53%, #NY14 by 46%, and even #NY06 by 1.9% within the seat!
So what's happened to Ferraro's old seat?

Well, #NY07 is represented by Nydia Velazquez, #NY06 is represented by Grace Meng (facing a lefty primary), #NY12 is represented by Carolyn Maloney (facing lefty primary challengers), and of course, #NY14 is represented by AOC.
Shout-out to @SenhorRaposa for randomly asking me about Ferraro's old seat and inadvertently giving me the idea to map some recent results in it!
