Thread on opening up & yes this will be long but informative.
First off, full disclosure I am a business owner & have been shut down since March 15th. I own a pro wrestling school & this has impacted me, my students & my family immensely. I would like nothing more...
Than for this to all go away & be back to normal. But it's not that easy. Also, the notion that people want this to remain shutdown just to impact Trump is ridiculous. First let's get to what we know. COVID-19 did not really sneak up on anyone except the public.
Despite what some say, WHO did send up many warnings. You can actually find many videos & documents & the timeline that backs this up. But that is neither here nor there. Let's just get to opening of the country & not delve into how we were not prepared & still are.
So why open up & how? Why are people upset & in the streets. Here is my take. I am for opening up. But from what I've heard from Trump & officials is opening in regions should go by 14 days of decrease in cases etc. Plus following guidelines. Region by region guidlines.
The guidelines will be social distancing & also limiting the amount of people allowed plus what businesses will open. I'm all for that. I truly am. So what did we see happen as all of this is being talked about? Well, we see people taking the to the streets & doing none...
Doing none of this. All I know is this makes me & everyone else nervous. It makes me think that if we do open that people like them will not be folowing any guidlines & endangering those around them. Honestly, imagine the economy opens up & you want to take your...
You want to take your family out & there are numerous people, even just one who refuses to do so because of what the President is tweeting out? That not only puts the business at risk but also the public. This has been my major issue. The protests are reckless & irresponsible
They are making me as a business owner, as a parent, as a husband very nervous about doing so. Especially if this happens in states with stand your ground laws. Imagine someone not wearing a mask, decides he doesn't want to follow guidlines. Does someone have the right to shoot?
Or, what if someone decides to approach the person & try to make them leave or adhere to guidlines. Would he be justified to shoot? You think tempers won't flare in situations like this? You have no idea. These are just some of the many issues I see. We are a country divided.
We had an enemy that should've brought us all together. Instead it divided us. We have nobody to blame but ourselves. Let's open up but let's not be rubes about it. Listen to & adhere to guidelines. Your health, your family's, your country's health depends on it.
