I grew up in Eastern PA.
Let me say that many people in the area are desperate for a sense of meaning.
They’ve found it in defying authority - but some don’t realize they are empowering the very authority they are rallying against.
Those organizing the rallies DO though. https://twitter.com/costareports/status/1252265152063451137

There is an INTENSE anti-authoritarian current in PA. It’s where I learned a lot of my good politics.
But it’s easily preyed upon.
There are also a lot of Nazis - real, weapon stockpiling, propaganda-making, organized Nazis - who are always on the lookout for a fulcrum.

Some of these people - and I know this may be hard to believe - are still organizable from an antifascist and anti-authoritarian left perspective.

I know this because I had to do it to survive growing up there.

Maybe it doesn’t seem worth it to you to try.
But ridiculing them when they are being positioned by Nazis who are giving them a sense of purpose won’t do anything.
They’re interrogating state power (stupidly, I know). That’s a leftist project & the way to reach them if you want.

If you understood what a desert of value and meaning some places in PA are - no opportunity, no cultivation of the arts, intense regulation, no cultural centers - your heart might be open to the problem here.
I hope you’ll think on it.
