Found a cheap Intel Xeon Phi 7120P card on eBay and just had to buy it. Yeah, I know, more toys etc. but Xeon Phis is are so cool that I always wanted one and after @gamozolabs streamed his recent osdev adventures, I got nerdsniped.
It's not the same architecture he uses, but the generation before that: Knights Corner. It is a PCIe card with the co-processor that is essentially just a many-core-x86-CPU, memory controller and only the absolutely needed support peripherals.
It does run Linux though even when using Intel's software stack. The documentation okay, not great, but with enough staring at Linux sources and the documentation I have, I'll be able to get some own shit running on there. That's going to be so much fun!
ALSO YES I KNOW THAT I HAVE TOO MANY PROJECTS, BUT THIS SHINY NEW OBJECT IS WAY MORE FUN THAN ALL THE OTHER ONES DYING ON THE PROJECT GRAVEYARD RIGHT NOW!!!
