I love them together
. Now I’m gonna take a guess but I feel like the reason Takuan has him up there is to finally get him to actually want to live? Gonna find out

Feel like I’m done with the first part of this story, the birth of Musashi Miyamoto, I feel like this is one of my favorite moments in manga, chapter 21 was just phenomenal.
“Erupting from the depths of Musashi’s subconscious, an involuntary howl” I love how this manga depicts their metal state and pressure during a fight
And therein lies the difference between, this is gonna be something that Musashi will be able to learn from, and Inshun as well
LOVE how fear is depicted here, this is Musashi’s first battle with a true prodigy and it’s been a struggle against fear, fearlessness being his greatest strength and he tries to cover it with rage, he sensed a bit of this fear against Denshichiro, but not quite like Inshun
This is meaningful for Inshun as well as Musashi’s the first person to ever put his life on the line with every stroke against Inshun, so this life & death experience with teach Inshun to put his all into his blow, we see the start of this and he does a battle cry
NAH BRO THIS WAS A FUCKING 10/10 FIGHT, HAD HIM RUNNNNNNNNING, Musashi’s characterization from this is about to be so great. 50 chapters in and Vagabond a 10/10 man
Giving the first few chapters greater meaning by correlating it to Musashi’s current situation >>>>>
The interesting thing about Matahachi is that he isn't even weak, just a coward
It’s phenomenal how Takezo was seen as a fearless demon, almost inhuman, and now Musashi suffers with fear, one of the most human emotions, as well as love because he wants to be Otsu
What an intense fight holy shit, only 3 words of dialogue in the whole chapter, I just know if this was animated it’d be amazing with everything being dead silent and only hearing the splashes of the water and Otsu’s flute
To exude this much suspense from two men in a small room, with very few words exchanged and one sleeping nearly the whole time, it’s just, and to further characterize Musashi through it by associating nearly identical scenario to one he had with his father, it’s just unreal
