It’s crazy the more I learn about the ways our cities have been built over the last 70 years the more I see how entrenched problems have become in our physical systems. Free parking in cities. High schools with parking lots bigger than themselves. Driving to the gym to walk.
@JeffSpeckFAICP does a great job making the numbers simple and organized for you to digest in this book. Parking is a cardinal sin. Draconian zoning is a cardinal sin. Designing cities to look like logical patterns to birds is a cardinal sin.
Seriously if anyone wants a copy of this book or Walkable City (also by Jeff Speck), I will send you a copy. It could be high school reading material. The facts in it should just be known by everyone.
Ok ok to clarify, this is me purchasing and shipping a book to folks who might not have the means / ability to buy a book, I don’t own a bunch of copies already that I can give away. So I’ve already ordered a few for folks but if ur just like “send me a free book”, not exactly..
