I’m 30. Here are some lessons I’ve learned in 30 years:
Take the time you spend worrying about diets and make art instead.
There is such a thing as “toxic positivity”. Let people be sad. Let people be angry.
Listen to people when they’re talking to you.
Eventually, people will talk too long or start treating you like their free, personal life coach—tell them to hit the bricks.
A lot of things aren’t your business.
Being “good” is overrated.
It’s perfectly cool to not speak on things you know very little about. Just say “I don’t know enough about that yet to have a full opinion” and then read up.
Take lots of pictures & make sure you’re in them.
Don’t waste time pining over “currency” that will never be yours to exchange. I will never be athletic or organized. But I’m a good story teller, I know how to make people laugh, I have great hair, and a nice rack. Know your strengths and promote the hell out of them.
It’s ok to not ever do yoga.
Contrary to popular belief, there really is such a thing as a dumb question. Think first and spare the world.
Your job will never love you back. Invest your soul elsewhere.
At any age, at any weight, at any time in life, it is perfectly acceptable to post your thirst traps to social media and let your enemies have a crap attack.
We never arrive. We are always coming-of-age. This is exciting.
Don’t take advice so seriously. Every body is making it up as they go along. No one knows what they’re doing.
