So the @MuseumOfGlos had an interesting challenge - #DigitalMuseumChallenge Here are a few of the items that me and @drjessicabarker own that we think are interesting and some are pretty old!
First up not very old but cool - Japanese Star Sand - made of the pointy husks of millions of tiny protists known as Foraminifera, it can be found in only two places on earth - not a great photo sorry its encased in plastic!
Next up is Petrified Lightening - aka Fulgurite - again not old just kinda cool!
Next is my my personal favourite piece I own - a slither of skin from the Hindenburg airship (not all of it burnt up), here in two very close shots!
Next a tiny bit of fossil dinosaur skin! (unknown age but er its dinosaur skin!)
Next up into the aged things - This is 15th century medieval chain mail up close and personal .
Next up a tiny piece of a real Piece of Eight from a shipwrecked pirate ship!
Next up is a piece of glass, but this one is from Libyan Dessert Glass - go google it, its fascinating! brought 28,500,000 years old!
Next up is an Ammonite roughly 110,000,000 years old
Finally this is a piece of the astroid belt, tiny tiny fragments captured and encased in perspex! Age is roughly 4,500,000,000 years old!
