A Thread. Harry Maguire is the most overrated CB in the league and United’s main defensive problem.
Harry Maguire played 2640 minutes for Man United this season manages to commit 0.8 fouls per game (which is very poor for a world record breaking CB singing).
Acts like he is alone at the back (when he sits deep) and plays central which causes Lindelof to drift out of position and makes him more uncomfortable. that automatically declines the claim of Maguire doing Shaw's job since he spends most of his time centered.
Maguire is a very poor defender when it comes to tackling hence why he averages 1 tackle per game. And when he attempts to tackle more often this happens:
Him being one of the best players in the air is not that accurate, he often wins headers against players that are either shorter than him or weaker than him.
Maguire lost 1.6 of his areal battles that came against players his size.

Lindelof gets most of the blame for United dropping points, but in fact Maguire's mistakes that cost us important points get overlooked. Like the one he played Aubameyang onside, missed header against Newcastle, being in fault for both goals against Burnley. And more.
Don’t forget this absolute disasterclass againts arsenal aswell, does this show his price tag is worth it? NO
He pushes forward more often than he should be, leaving the defense exposed and putting a huge amount of pressure on Lindelof/Bailly, gets skinned of the ball easily. The match against Chelsea where Bailly saved him by making 2 match saving tackles proves my point.
Since Maguire has joined Manchester United, the club went on it's longest run with no clean sheets in about 50 years, and are currently having our worst season in 30 years since signing him.
Maguire isn't a captain because of his weak mentality hence why he praised his performance against Arsenal, celebrated a draw against partizan in Europa League, celebrated an individual trophy after dropping 2 important points against Everton. (1/2)
He achieved nothing his entire career (he is 27 btw) besides getting relegated 4 times with no major trophies won what so ever, which implies the fact that he has a very poor mentality and shouldn't be apart of a title winning team. (2/2)
Anyone wanting to praise Maguire's attacking side, He had 4 big chances created for him this season and he has missed all 4 (in the prem only), had 26 shots and only 8 on target (40% shooting accuracy).
