Yom HaShoah's importance is of a weight too heavy for my heart to stay silent and of a magnitude too great to say anything meaningful enough.
It's one of the most unspeakably horrific moments in history that still haunts the lives of Jewish people and has permanently saddened so many in my life, though I was born over half a century afterwards.
It makes me cry to think that there are so many people nobody remembers; I want the world to never forget the unjust suffering inflicted upon them. that's why Yom HaShoah is important to me and to countless other Jews, for whom this day has an especially personal significance.
We are living today, in a way that would have been unthinkable and miraculous for so many, and you have to carry the tragic shortness of their life as you continue your own.
