Where are those headlines now? Where is the language of "carnage" and "apocalypse", of "surge" and "soar"? Where are the questions about government incompetence, so easily levelled at the Italians, who didn't even enjoy the luxury of time to prepare the UK did?

How does the outrage and hand-wringing, looking at a foreign country with similar population, suddenly become "they're doing very well in difficult circumstances" and "let's stop playing politics" when it doesn't suit your narrative? IT IS AN IDENTICAL CURVE. IDENTICAL NUMBERS.
