One thing that sucks about those whacked out protesters is they give cover for people who want to dismiss the very legitimate concerns of people who don't know how they're going to navigate this crisis financially. In fact, many of those protesters have some legitimate concerns!
They can miss me with the ~live free or die, heil whitmer~ nonsense, but a lot of these people have lost their livelihoods. They're scared, they're confused, and they're confronting something they don't understand. That kind of fear helps breed a conspiratorial mindset.
It's not as simple as people being greedy or wanting to go back to Cracker Barrel or whatever, though of course there's some of that, a lot of those people sincerely don't know how they're going to keep their lights on. That fear manifests itself in some unproductive ways.
I don't think that means you need to be sympathetic of some doofus holding up a swastika at a rally, but it does mean maybe we shouldn't forget about all the other people who don't have the luxury of working from home or who are watching small businesses tick towards oblivion.
