It’s lunch but I can’t eat yet, because baby. So maybe let’s do a cooking thread.

This is ‘bistek Tagalog’ aka how to get a little bit of steak to feed a lot of people. It’s basically beef + almost caremelized onions. 1/
First you want to take your steak and slice it thin as you can (Tip: Partially frozen is easier to slice). Marinate with 1/4 cup soy sauce, juice of half a lemon, pepper. Marinate overnight, or however long you can wait.

Add more soy sauce and lemon if you use more meat. 2/
It feels weird giving measurements, honestly.

So, time passes. Cut up as many onions into rings as you can fit in a pan (or don’t if you are more of a meat eater). I used 3 here. They’re my favorite part so... 3/
Stir fry in veg oil until nice and soft. Add a splash of soy sauce for colour. I like getting some of those onions nice and sticky, almost caramelized and sweet, but if you’re rushing, as long as they’re cooked you’re good. Dark soy gives them a great colour. 4/
Set the onions aside, and stir fry the beef. When it’s mostly cooked, add the marinade back in and let it simmer. This doesn’t really take long if your beef is thin. 5/
You’re practically done! Just add the onions back into the pan and let it all cook together a few minutes.

Serve with steamed rice. That’s it!

(OMG I’m starving now but baby is asleep on me.) 6/fin
