Whitmer addresses protesters and critics.

Acknowledges difficulty, says "we are taking a limited action for a limited amount of time to save people's lives."

Whitmer quotes Trump: "President Trump called this a war. And it is exactly that. So let's act like it."

Says it is a time for shared sacrifice, to come together and rally like Michigan did during World War II, in order to save lives.

Whitmer also says she will take a 10% pay cut and having her advisers do the same.

Whitmer says Michigan has capacity for about 11K/day but currently performing only about half of those, because supplies (reagents, swabs) are in short supply.

Says state is trying to find more, hoping for help from federal government.

Whitmer cites data from Google, Facebook showing Michigan among top states for reducing social contact. But warns of a second spike, notes new cases outside the southeast.

"Just because it's not showing up in your community yet, doesn't mean that it's not already there."
