Mackenzi Lee has been "cancelled" multiple times but continues to sell well, while authors of color have actually been harmed and continue to lose sales and get swarmed with 1 star reviews because they spoke out against racism. Go look at the reviews of L.L. McKinney's books. 1/

90% of the 1-star reviews say something about her "hating white people" because she dared to call out some racist bullshit. Even a lot of the 3-4 star reviews mention it as a reason they didn't give them 5 stars. And that's just an example I know from the top of my head. 2/

Countless other authors of color, especially Black authors deal with the same shit, while white authors get pass after pass after pass. Literally weeks after the discourse surrounding Madness Blooms, she announced the next Montague Siblings book and the whole tl was freaking 3/

out about it. It comes out in August and I already fucking know that tons of people will have long since forgotten this and be drooling over that. I can't fucking stand you shits. 4/4

Also go read A Blade So Black and give it the love it deserves because it's the best Alice in Wonderland retelling out there and one of the best retellings in general.
