Yesterday, we saw fellow members of the LGBT+ community alongside right-wing men and radfems spewing aphobia, racism, sexism, transphobia, ableism and general negativity under my post because I said that aspec people are queer and deserve visibility.
That image came from a photo shoot I did a shoot to raise money for an LGBTQ+ charity named IGLA and promote a message of solidarity, inclusion and respect. The #RespectIsEasy campaign was started by my dear friend @bradleybirkholz. The message was clearly lost on some.
The LGBTQ+ movement was the first to question heteronormative standards that have been harming sexuality and gender minorities for centuries. This isn't the oppression Olympics, and the attitudes I saw yesterday were frankly embarrassing. The community should be ashamed.
The asexual and aromantic community aren't sitting around waiting for their acceptance letter to be approved before they can be part of the ever-evolving narrative - we're already there and always were. And our prominence is increasing, so get used to it.
Let this be another example of why solidarity, education and inclusion is ESSENTIAL. So thanks to the supporters and the LGBTQ+ organisations who continue to work with me to increase aspec visibility during this pandemic. Can't wait for you to see what's in the pipeline. đŸłïžâ€đŸŒˆ
