In roughly on week's time we're going to have a groupwatch of Urusei Yatsura on Definitive Anime Chat...thing, hopefully raising making more people get out there and watch it.

But what is Urusei Yatsura? https://twitter.com/buildknuckle/status/1251270974986731528
Well Rumiko Takahashi wrote created the manga and it got published in the magazine, Weekly Shounen Sunday.

There's a Twitter account called @Wsstalkback that talks about the magazine in more detail.

They post interesting stuff like this! https://twitter.com/Wsstalkback/status/1252094581543493637
Now Rumiko Takahashi has done a lot of Manga in her long career. These are her most popular works which I just nicked off of Wikipedia.

Some pretty familiar series in there!

Well Urusei Yatsura was the first big one and the first one of her works to be made into an anime.
As for Urusei Yatsura itself, it had two directors which for longer anime series isn't entirely out of the ordinary.

UY had two directors, Mamoru Oshii (1-106) and Kazuo Yamazaki (107-195). Each of them directed roughly half the series each.
Mamoru Oshii is probably the director most people are aware of.

One of the members of Headgear which created the Patlabor series and director of Ghost in the Shell, Angel's Egg and that crappy plane film (in my honest opinion) that Project Aces made a decent game out of!
Kazuo Yamazaki, while not as well known as Oshii also directed Five Star Stories and the 2006 series Yume Tsukai.

Some people may not know this but he even directed a couple of episodes of Precure (GoGo Ep.33, Fresh Ep.7) too!
I'll add more to this thread tomorrow. Until then, here's a Lum.
