These #COVID19 deaths occurred while officials in all four states resisted efforts to significantly reduce their prison populations, and have ignored or been slow to respond to calls to reveal plans for how they will handle a #coronavirus outbreak in their prisons.
Over the last month @splcaction has repeatedly called for the release of people from prisons in the Deep South amid the #COVID19 pandemic. But state officials have ignored those calls even though supported by other civil rights organizations and public health officials.
