Going through white border cards is misery so i decided to share that misery with you all. This is a “which set is this white border card from” thread. 1/

First up, Unlimited. Darker colors than almost all sets and has a “double border” which is a thin beveled edge around the card. No copyright, just artist, basics have varying darkness of border.

Revised. Looks similar to UNL but has a “washed out” look and no “beveled edge”. Again, no copyright and only artist.

Next up, fourth edition. Lots of variance with the print run, as you might be able to tell from the swords and pestilence. Small “1995” copyright under artist.

Can’t talk about 4th without talking about “Alternate 4th”. This was a print run that WotC made for a very short run. The biggest giveaway is FEEL. These feel much glossier. Also there is a different shade on the upper part of the “A” on the back of “magic”. L to R: Alt, 4th, 5th

Quick aside, there were 2 “media promos” right before 4th came out. These were magazine inserts in duelist if i recall correctly. Only Blue Elemental Blast and Fireball. They look like 4th but have “1994” copyright and they are slightly brighter. 4th on the left.

5th. WAY brighter, 1997 copyright. Feels like 4th in the hand. Art is all over the place.

Chronicles. Exactly like 4th except has a set symbol and the printing is more even. Same copyright as 4th.

6th. Expansion symbol, bright colors like 5th, artist and “1993-1999” copyright in the center instead of on the left side.

7th. A little duller colors than 6th, expansion symbol, central artist and “1993-2001” copyright

8th. Modern border. Artist “paintbrush” icon, left located with “1993-2003” copyright.

9th. Identical to 8th except expansion symbol is different and copyright is “1993-2005”. Expansion symbol is annoyingly similar to 8th. (Also can we talk about base sets every 2 years instead of 1?)

Starter 1999. Star expansion symbol. Central artist and “1993-1999” copyright. Bold card text.

Deck masters box set. “D” expansion symbol. Old border. Central artist and “1993-2001” copyright.

Beat down box set. Mace expansion symbol. Central artist and “1993-2000” type line.

Portal 3 Kingdoms. P3K expansion symbol. Bold text box. Old border. Left artist and “1993-1999” copyright.

Battle Royale. Old border, individual expansion symbols like chronicles, central artist and “1993-1999” copyright

Anthologies. Aka “Bad Chronicles 2.0 but we swear we didn’t print too much this time!” Old border, individual expansion symbols like chronicles, left artist and “1993-1998” copyright

Anthologies is the actual worst let me show you why.

Some ATH cards have different collector numbers and the text line is either left or center. Basically whatever the card looked like in the original printing, that’s what it looks like on ATH cards. These are both from ATH.

Lastly, we have Summer (or Edgar). Unfortunately I don’t have any Summer cards rn but here’s a blue hurricane we used to have.

Summer (or Edgar) is an extremely rare “fixed” version of revised. It has 1994 copyright on the same line as the artist. The colors “pop” like 5th
