Eye issues - Don'ts

- don't lie to your eye doctor
- don't use previous prescription for new eye issues
- don't put breast milk or urine in your eyes
- don't use your laptop in a dark room, it can cause eye fatigue.
- don't share eye drops

- do routine eye check
- eat fruits and balance diet.
- Omega 3 (eg. from fish) is good for your eyes.

High sugar level can affect your vision.

Alcohol can affect your eyes too.

Issue with optic nerve can lead to irreversible blindness.

Makeup - get your own set of brushes especially for the eyes for proper hygiene to avoid infection. Or wash the brushes regularly.

Use wipes to clean the eyes properly when cleaning your makeup. Wash your face after using the wipes too.

Direct exposure to air conditioner can dry your eyes out which is bad for the eyes.

Stay hydrated. Take water well.

Aircraft - can also lead to dry eyes.

Try to rest your eyes as much as you can. (Sleep) .You can use artificial eye drop after the flight.

Work environment- using your computer or gadgets all day.
It's bad for the eyes. Make sure your room is properly illuminated.

Make sure your computer is at your eye level. Reduce brightness of your computer and increase contrast.

Observe the 20-20 rule. After using the computer or gadget for 20 minutes, look at something else for like 20 secs. It will help your eyes.

Chemical splash - eg. perfume, insecticide, sniper and co. Open your eyes under a running water or rinse with water for about 10 mins. (Irrigation). If it's really bad, visit a eye doctor.

Eye allergies - you can be exposed to something that triggers your allergic reaction eg. itching, pain, tearing etc. ... Visit your eye doctor for proper check up.

Symptoms your should not ignore!!!

- disparity between what you see with both eyes. If one eyes is not seeing as much as the other eye ...close one eye and look then close the other eye and look. See a eye doctor to avoid one eye blindness.

- excessive sensitivity to light. See a doctor. It could be a symptom of something serious.

- on going eye pain. See eye doctor too.

- flashes of light. See a eye doctor.

- redness, itching, discharge. See a eye doctor.

- children having excessive tearing or

Or moving too close to the screen or can't see well in class. See a eye doctor. So that it can be corrected early. (If correctable).

Your hands must be clean. Wash and air dry your hand. Place contact on index finger, disinfect your contact before putting it on,( use the dissolution water not tap water), don't put it directly on the dark side, etc.

Do not sleep, swim or shower with contact lenses

If you experience discomfort after putting the contact lense, remove it and try again. Or get proper lesson on how to use contact lenses.

Eye bags - rest your eyes as much as possible. Review your eye prescription at least every 6 months. Don't go 10 yrs after
