Alright I’m doing this pointless thread of appreciation for BTS’s Fake Love music video because I love how it takes from past videos and builds on them and also... it sounds really good. And I can barely go outside SO! Here is the music video & here we go. https://twitter.com/iamacatsby/status/1252249464078770177
Tldr on the backstory of BTS’s previous videos before this: a bunch of boys have bad shit happen in their lives and grow apart and suffer only to come back together to be friends again...or so we thought. I bet their thought process was
This is the video before that one. As you can see the boys are very happy and it’s like all their problems are solved. It’s even called “Euphoria.” HOWEVER!
More background: one of the bad things that happens is that Jungkook is hit by a car (apparently driven by Jin.) it happens in, like, the first video.
The Euphoria video ends with an after credits shot, which is this. In other words, things aren’t as happy as they appeared. And it looks like Jungkook knows.
Fake Love takes place after that. Aside from the killer sound and awesome dancing, there’s a storyline going on in the video. For this I’ll try to use pictures and gifs because I can’t put two gifs in a tweet, which is annoying. Fake Love starts with Jin and Jungkook like this:
Something similar happens in Euphoria (Fake Love is the last two photos). But in Euphoria no one is there.
Jin is protecting this thing, which is a flower. Jungkook crushed a flower in the JP version of Run. He didn’t appreciate being hit by a car more than once.
Now we get to the other members. Suga plays the piano and his story is that he tried to set himself on fire. So in Fake love he’s back with his piano (which was also in his solo short film.) It doesn’t look like a happy place in either tbh
In the story RM lived in a shipping crate (because he didn’t have money), and in Fake Love (below) he’s back inside one.
In RM’s short film he’s surrounded by mirrors and mirrors play a role in some of the other videos (1st three pics) and in Fake Love the theme returns (last pic).
A recurring theme in a lot of the videos is that Jungkook is always trying to keep his friends together/be with them until they reunite. In Fake Love he’s separated from all of them again but watching closely. For RM it’s through the mirror:
Jungkook does it to Jimin too. In the story Jimin tried to drown himself in his bathtub, was hospitalized and his friends got him out.
This super cool scene exists in Fake Love of Jungkook running down a hallway that’s falling apart.
Running after his friends is a theme of Jungkook’s in the story. This earlier scene happens in Spring Day, when he runs through a bunch of places looking for the others
For J-Hope, he ends up drowning in a pile of candy bars in Fake Love (left.) In his short film (right) candy bars are used as well.
V’s was hard to get but basically in Fake Love (first two) he’s standing in a room lined with cellphones and the one he’s holding turns to sand. On the right in...I think it’s the beginning of Euphoria, he calls RM after he murders his dad but RM doesn’t pick up.
Life sucks when your cellphone does that shit
In Fake Love (1st photo) Jungkook picks up sand and when he blows on it, it turns into flower petals. The 2nd photo from the past it’s a bit hard to tell but he’s scattering petals from the flower he crushed, and in the 3rd he’s setting one on fire. He is not a fan.
Once Jungkook unlocks wherever tf he was going in Fake Love the others end up re-experiencing their trauma. Jimin is going to drown again.
In earlier videos Suga tries to die via fire and is saved in Euphoria because ofc he is. But in this, as you can see, he probably won’t survive that.
With V I’m guessing no one comes to save him from murdering his dad here (which they do in Euphoria.)
Jungkook is now alone again. He spent all of Fake Love struggling to get into this shitty af room (left.) As mentioned before, being left alone was a major theme in earlier videos (such as in the one on the right)
1st pic is Young Forever where the friends are together. The last two pics are from Fake Love. Things are a bit different. For one thing, it looks like they joined a cult. They do this in more videos and idk why.
Look at how the friends have changed! Left is the end of Fake Love. Right is from Spring Day.
From Euphoria (left) to Fake Love (right) there’s been quite a change. Tfw your friend doesn’t appreciate getting hit by a car more than once

It’s definitely an interesting way to progress the story. Euphoria does seem a little too good to be true after all the other shit.
The dancing half of the video is good too! The best of both sides of BTS. When I first watched it I hadn’t watched all the others, so when I came back to it, I was surprised.

I could say this much about a lot of their videos which is part of why I like them. x
