I hate hate hate when I’m thinking critically about beauty and my place in it, and the response is “your beautiful” or “here’s how you can heal / build confidence!”

I recognize that people mean well and are just trying to be kind / encouraging. But the point is being missed.
I also recognize that to a certain extent I will ALWAYS be viewed on some scale of ugly simply because I am a darkskin nigger. That doesn’t bother me. What bothers me is the violence I’ve faced / will face because of it.
I’m not trying to make people pity me, I’m just trying to point certain things out because I want us to all start thinking more critically about beauty. I think we are too passive when it comes to beauty, and we take these violent logics at face value!
