My #COVID19 story

2am, March 18th i woke up sweating profusely. Checked the temperature and saw it was 34 degrees, nice weather out there ,but why am i this hot? I thought to myself.
I felt the heat in the house was too much but didn't want to turn it down because i wouldn't
want to inconvenience others.

I switched on the fan, was still hot, turned on the AC in my room yet i was still sweating and couldn't sleep. I got up, took a cold shower and managed to get some sleep.
Woke up at 6am the next morning to get ready for work and i felt some kinda dryness in my throat, ignored and went about my business. .....day went well.
On Friday, 20thth march, i got to work. Started my shift at 9 and at 10am, i started to cough, started feeling feverish.
I checked my BP, it was normal, checked my temperature and it wss elevated, badly elevated.
I struggled to compete my work but i was too weak to do anything. I called security and told them i was canceling all appointments as i didn't feel well.
Told them if there's any emergencies, ask the people to call me.
I sat at my desk too deliberated to do anything. The first call came in at 12ish(pm), that was the point i realized i had lost my voice....
My supervisor came to my office , tried talking to me but i was in a real
bad shape.
I couldn't talk, walk, or even function. He asked me to go home but i told him i had stuff to do and wanted to complete them before leaving.
I stayed till the end of my shift at 5. I was about stepping out of the building when my supervisor said
"Don't come to work tomorrow if you do not feel better, if not i will send you home". I called his bluff and kept it moving.

Next day on Saturday, I woke up feeling stronger, got ready for work and jumped on the train. I had got to 42nd street/ grand central when i started
to feel dizzy, next thing i slumped, yes i slumped at the train station.

I was unconscious but could hear(hearing is the last sense to go in a dying process).

I was unconscious but could hear.( the last sense to leave a dying person is your sense of hearing).
After a few minutes, EMS arrived and i was resuscitated. They asked me if i wanted to go to the hospital but i declined telling them i was fine( not because i was truly fine but because, i fell in the snow in December 2019, EMS picked me up and took me to the hospital only for
them to send me a bill of $3k to somewhere a taxi would ordinarily charge $7 to. Thank God for Insurance).

Sunday i woke up very ill. I told my mum and sister my symptoms but they both said i had malaria. Malaria here? Well.... could be!

Monday i got weaker. Tuesday i had
Lost my sense of smell and my tastes buds felt dead. I couldn't taste nor smell.

I carried on for the rest of the week but on Sunday March 29th, i told my dad i wasn't getting any better, he advised i went to the ER. I got to the ER, i can't even explain what i saw there.
My friend who took me to the hospital was like "babe you can't stay here, you may get infected".I waited to get tested, the results were out the next day and boom!!!! They dropped the bombshell " you are positive". Positive to what i asked?Positive to Coronavirus she responded
(it was a female doctor).
How did i get #COVIDー19? I kept pondering because i have 4 hand sanitizers, i put on my masks, i have like 5 cans of lysol.... well i told her i couldn't stay at the hospital because i was so cramped.

Left the hospital for home so sick and enfeebled.
I decided to take care of my self with the help of my family and friends( meanwhile i hadn't eaten anything in the past week).
Pepper soup tasted like water, food was so bitter. I started to take lemon, ginger and garlic cooked in water. As everyone started to give different
Suggestions as to what to take.

I had to self quarantine for 14 days with no food but i sure took a lot of fluid.
( I remember one of the days a friend teased me saying" you said you can't taste anything abi? Oya eat raw pepper let's see".
I started to chew raw pepper, i chewed
123......7 and still didn't feel anything. At that point my friend jokingly said" i read on google that if you have #COVID19 and you lose your sense of smell and taste, you are quarter to go". Quarter to what???

At that point the LOML decided to get me a medication.
A medication i cannot mention because the brand hasn't paid me to do any for of advertising for them. I took the med, i felt relieved, told everyone there was an improvement and my dad asked him to get some more. LOML got me 3 more bottles and i started to feel better.
On the 13th day, i was stronger, still couldn't taste or smell though. I carried on till the 15th day which was April 9th, went for another test and it was negative.... i mean double negative.

Guys i survived #COVID19. I defeated the virus not because i am a warrior
but God kept me. I lost 2 family friends and LOML's uncle to #COVID19 .

I just want to say a BIG " Thank you" to all my followers who reached out to me because they saw the numbers coming from New York.
I want to say a BiGGER "Thank you"
To @PearlTonia9, @AkiMarlin @hansomevik1886 @oku_yungx @TheoAbuAgada @lionofjada @Miss_Xahide @onanagal67 and a few other people i cannot mention for calling me everyday to check up on me while i was fighting for my life.
Special thanks to all the medical practitioners who have laid down their lives to be on the frontline, parents, siblings and LOML for their prayers and support. I love you guys. GOD Bless you all.
Now lessons to learn from my #COVID19 story.

I was a bit too carefree, very careless i must confess, for someone in my profession. I practically threw caution to the wind. When other's had their PPE's on i was still trying to slay.
I was always on the move cos i had to work.
I didn't practice enough social distancing

#COVID19 as most of us already know is not a joke. PLEASE stay home if you do not have any business going out and if you have to step out for essentials especially this lockdown period, protect yourself and practice social distancing.
If you feel you have been exposed, try self isolating for 14days as symptoms vary.

I didn't have dry cough
I wasn't sneezing
No dsypnea

PLEASE stay home, stay safe so we can flatten this curve.
