“We’ll recover from this,” my brother assured me right before I hung up. Although his words were meant to calm me, they just broke me instead and I cried (loud enough for my roommate to come check in on me).
I’m still processing what happened back home.
I cannot believe so many beautiful people lost their lives! I cannot imagine what their families are going through.
When I woke up yesterday and saw the news, my first instinct was to check in with my parents. Tell them not to open the door for anyone. Not even police!
Although my parents were safe. I cannot even begin to understand what those who lost parents, friends, siblings, loved ones are going through. My brother knew some of the people who died. He is way stronger than I am and is handling it way better than me.
Lastly I wanna say I’m really proud of some of the journalists (my friends) who covered this. It couldn’t have been easy.
But I also want to point out my disappointment at some of the headlines I saw out there. You’d think we would have learned by now not to glorify shooters??
