i’ve been trying to say this for longest and people don’t understand. whiteness is a construct meaning it doesn’t necessitate being passed linearly. looking white means society treats you as such, it doesn’t matter what your parents are or how they were treated.

whiteness isn’t about lineage. jobs don’t care about your parents or your siblings. they care about YOU and what you present. whiteness is contrived because it’s a construct. it’s frustrating for white-passing people to say they have the same struggle as someone as dark as me.
